home > Ptosis > Purpose

When self-diagnosing for ptosis, one must observe their eyelid level when completely relaxed and in a basal state (normal resting state). Many people tend to instinctively lift their brows when looking in the mirror. Therefore, patients may not always detect the signs of ptosis by use of a mirror. The better method of diagnosis is through photographs. Patients with ptosis find that they see the signs of this disorder in photos of themselves.
